While so much has already been said about the great Ray Chen, hearing him on disc in these two violin concertos is another matter. He truly raises the roof in no uncertain terms with his playing especially in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto which shows his incredible prowess and fabulous technique that is definitely one of the finest interpretations available today.
The same could be said of the Mendelssohn which also demonstrates the magnificence of this young violinist's playing especially in the slow movement. Daniel Harding's accompaniment is superb in every department and this conductor also demonstrates his youthful prowess and brilliance. It is indeed a marriage made in heaven for lovers of these immortal concertos.
