What an outstanding disc this is, in spite of the short playing time. They say that good music comes in small doses and this is definitely the case with Rolfe Johnson and Johnson interpreting this wonderful assortment of songs.
Just sit back and take in the atmosphere of Venice in the portraits of such varied composers as Taneyev, Fauré and that old devil, Rossini. This city definitely inspired all composers to produce the most delectable and charming songs one could imagine. Recording is as usual quite magical and notes are copious and fastidious. What are you waiting for?
