I really wanted to be able to recommend this disc. To my knowledge this is the only source of hearing Stokowski do the "Pelleas…". Unfortunately the sound rules the whole thing out. There is a high pitch whine that permeates the entire recording. I read another review of this release and the writer complained of similar problems. Apparently the problem is inherent in the masters and despite the efforts of the folks at Guild this is just not listenable.
